- MS student Marshaun Montgomery was awarded a U.S. Borlaug Fellowship in Global Food Security for his research to reduce draught risk in Africa.
- MS student Seth Morgan was awarded a U.S. Borlaug Fellowship in Global Food Security in order to carry out his research in Kenya with the World Agroforestry Centre.
- MS student Brad Coyle won a Boren Fellowship and a Foreign Language Area Studies Fellowship for studies in South Korea.
- PhD student Akito Kamei was awarded a Nepal Policy Communication Fellowship from the University of Michigan to write policy briefs on the Chitwan Valley project in Nepal.
- PhD student Mateus Nogueira Meirelles de Souza was chosen as a Levenick Scholar to study adoption of energy efficient technology.
