Getting the Most for Your Food Dollar

CHOOSE FOOD WITH LESS PACKAGING TO SAVE MONEY

  • Packaging protects food but adds to the cost.
  • Some foods such as fruits come in their own packaging.
  • Most foods need some packaging to stay clean and safe.
  • Do not buy food in packages that have been opened or damaged.
  • If you have a choice, choose food with less packaging.
  • Bulk foods are sold in bins and often cost less because they do not have  packaging.
  • Bulk foods need to be put into storage containers at home.
