Studies in Public Policy and Law*
Students in the Public Policy and Law concentration in the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Economics become expert in the economics of public policy in general and in its application to specific areas of interest. This concentration will expose students to the legal and institutional structures in which policies are developed, the analysis of the economic impacts of policies, and special circumstances of public policy and law pertaining to the environment, consumers, the agricultural sector and international relations.
Career Opportunities
This concentration is designed for students who have a broad interest in public policy, governance, or law. Graduates will be equipped with an understanding of the institutions that make and implement policies in the United States and with skill for the economic analysis of policies and social programs. The concentration prepares students for employment in local, state or federal government organizations with interest in governmental affairs, or for further study towards professional degrees in areas including law, public policy, and administration.
